Padgetts F1 RG500

Mark Phillips on the Padgetts F1 RG500. It was built by Padgetts Motorcyles. It has a Harris RGB500 frame and a modified RG500 Gamma street engine with Padgetts dry clutch and RGB ignition and carbs. Phillips won the 1986 British TT F1 title on this bike. When Suzuki launched its RG500 road bike in 1985 Padgetts converted the road engine into a full GP-spec RG and Phillips thrashed the heavier four-strokes. “The bike handled so well and was so light,” says Phillips. “In fact the TT F1 RG was lighter than the GP bike, because the road engine was based on the smaller factory XR45 engine.”

Yamaha F1 RD500

Here we have some nice information and pics about the Yamaha F1 RD500. Just as with the RG500 several people tried to make an F1 racer of the Yamaha RD500. The Yamaha never reached the success of the RG500.

Bruce Anstey sets a new 2stroke record at Man! Bruce Anstey, riding the 2stroke Valvoline by Padgetts Racing 1992 YZR500 Yamaha, powered to a stunning victory in the 2014 Motorsport Merchandise Formula 1 Classic TT Race on the Isle of Man, making history on the way. As well as establishing a lap record of 123.894mph (18:16.324) for the F1 class, Anstey’s time was also the fastest ever 2stroke lap of the TT Mountain Course, breaking Ian Lougher’s record set on a 500 V-twin Honda in the 1999 Senior TT. Anstey dominated the race from the start and eventually won by over a minute from James Hillier with Russ Mountford securing the final podium place.
