Waddon Ehrlich Rotax

Here some pics of a Waddon Rotax tandemtwin. This rare machine is one of a handful produced by Waddon Performance Products of Croydon, Surrey during the early 1980s. The Waddon was launched at the start of the 1981 season and featured a tubular spine frame similar in layout to that championed by famous motorcycle suspension designer, Tony Foale. Two-stroke engineer Dr Joe Ehrlich joined the project to help develop the Waddon's Rotax engine, his work paying off when Con Law won the 1982 Junior TT race for the Surrey-based manufacturer.

Rollason Barton Phoenix

Finally some pics of the Barton Phoenix and as a bonus mounted in a very special homemade sidecar of Nigel Rollason! Nigel won a race with this outfit in 1986 at the TT of Man. He is also one of only 2 who won a race at Man on 2 and 3 wheels. The other is the late Freddie Dixon.
Some information from Nigel: "I have two 750cc Mk I engines, of only six made. I was promised a long stroke 850cc engine from Barry Hart, but it never got made. The silver motor is the one from the garage shots at the beginning of the Silver Dream Racer film. Both engines have iron liners with my own porting. 145 bhp at 11,000 rpm at the rear wheel in 1985!! The engine uses 38mm Amal carbs. Top speeds of 154 mph / 248 km at the TT Highlander and 156 mph / 252 km through Sulby Village. I bought one engine from Eric Buell when he stopped using it"
Nigel thanks again for the pics and information!

Mitter's extraordinary square four

Here some pics of a very special engine used in a formula 2 car. This engine was build by Gerhard Mitter a German F1 and F2 racer. The capacity of the engine is 986cc and it has 130 hp at 9000 rpm. The engine has 8 spark plugs, four 35 mm Dell Orto's and the weight is 110 kg. The engine housed in a Lotus chassis and used a Porsche gear box. Mitter had some pole positions and fastest laps with the car but it had many brake downs. Mitter was very busy with testing of F1 prototype cars and had no time to develop the car properly. In august 1969 Mitter dies when he is testing an BMW F2 car at the Nürburgring.
